Everything you need to know about our DCP mastering services

A DCP is the global standard format for cinema projection. Unlike a simple MP4 or MOV file, a DCP ensures your film looks and sounds exactly as you intended on the big screen.

If your film is selected for a festival or a theatrical screening, they will almost always require a DCP for the highest quality presentation.

We are a 100% cloud-based lab. Once your DCP is ready and QC-passed, we send you a secure, high-speed download link via our private server.

This eliminates expensive shipping costs and customs delays. You can simply download the folder and copy it to a USB drive yourself if the cinema requires a physical handover.

It's simple:

1) You send us your master file (ProRes, DNxHR, etc.) via our upload form.

2) We convert it into a professional DCP and perform a technical quality check.

3) Within 24 hours (usually less), you receive a secure download link ready for delivery to festivals.

By default, we create unencrypted (open) DCPs. This is the industry preference for independent films and festivals (including major ones like Rotterdam), as it avoids playback issues caused by missing or expired keys (KDMs).

Your film is safe, but much easier for festivals to screen without technical headaches.

No. Unlike many other labs, subtitle integration is included in our flat price.

Simply provide us with a compliant SRT or XML file, and we will burn them in or make them soft-selectable, depending on your preference, at no extra cost.

We believe in maintaining the integrity of your sound mix. If you provide a Stereo (2.0) mix, we will create a compliant 2.0 DCP.

We do not apply artificial "fake" 5.1 upmixing, as this can distort your sound design. If you want 5.1, please provide a 6-channel mix.

Since we provide you with the full, unencrypted DCP folder, you have full control. You can download the files and copy them onto a USB stick or portable hard drive yourself.

Just ensure the drive is formatted correctly (usually NTFS or EXT2/3 depending on the server), and it will work perfectly.

now.DCP is built by filmmakers, for filmmakers. By automating our cloud infrastructure and removing physical shipping logistics, we cut overhead costs significantly.

We pass these savings directly to you, offering professional-grade DCPs at a flat, transparent rate.

2K DCP: Resolution of 2048×1080 pixels. This is the standard for most theaters and film festivals worldwide. Perfect for most independent films and festival screenings.

4K DCP: Resolution of 4096×2160 pixels. Offers higher detail and is preferred for premium theatrical releases, large format screens, and films shot in 4K or higher.

Most theaters can play both formats, but 2K is more universally compatible and more affordable.

We accept industry-standard formats including:

  • ProRes 422 HQ / 4444 (recommended)
  • DNxHR / DNxHD
  • H.264 / H.265 (high bitrate)
  • Uncompressed MOV or AVI

For audio, we accept WAV, AIFF, or embedded audio tracks. Separate audio files are preferred for better quality control. We recommend avoiding highly compressed formats for the best visual results on a cinema screen.

Yes! All our DCP packages include comprehensive quality control at no additional cost.

Our QC process includes verification of image quality, color accuracy, audio sync, subtitle timing, and compliance with DCI specifications.

You'll receive a detailed QC report with every delivery.

Our Free Test DCP allows you to send up to 60 seconds of footage to see how your film will look on a theatrical screen before committing to the full DCP.

This is perfect for directors and colorists who want to verify color accuracy, contrast ratios, and overall theatrical presentation quality.
